There is no secret about childhood obesity or adult obesity for that matter. In about 1850, the average per capita consumption of sugar was something like 5 lbs/yr. In 1900, it was 50 lbs/yr; in 1950 it was 100 lbs/yr and in 2000, it was 150 lbs /yr.

I don't eat out much but the places mentioned on the program "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" sounds like a pretty good idea. The food is fresh cooked, they do have their specialties, but usually have customers for a generation or two. Usually family owned so the food is GOOD.

Converting to a non meat diet would necessarily produce a significant increase the amount of carbohydrate one must eat and thus the amount of insulin needed.

35%? They got this by dividing 21% by 20% which measures the difference in percent. Last I heard, the was not acceptable because it exaggerates the real difference which is 7%. What the data says is that 21 out of 100 [this is what % means] with diabetes got Alzheimers while 20 out of 100 didn't.
